"NATIVE SPIRIT" is a new concept in the sourcing & presentation of various objects of antiquity, arts & crafts from all over the world, with a strong emphasis on NATIVE art, ie. something created by an indigenous race somewhere in the world.
It attempts to make available the fruits of the artisitc creative genious & originality of any Native race (or descendants thereof) on this planet. The items offered will reflect their primeval/primordial arts & cultures, and highlight their thinking & attitudes at that time..... In a way, we combine, here, the elements of culture, art, crafts, palaentology, archaelogy & history......
I'm a later-generation part American Lakota Sioux Indian with an "eclectic mix" for a background: educated with a Ph.D. in Cambridge (UK), with multi-farious interests ranging from native culture to quantum physics. At the heart of it all is the passion for the arts & crafts, of the ole` world & contemporary. We will attempt to bring you here offerings from 4 corners of the globe with ONE over-riding pre-requisite: AUTHENTICITY. By this time, we've established "supply routes" to several indigenous sources in different parts of the world for various ORIGINAL works of arts & crafts, many of which are truly antique, created in a different time & space .....
With the exception of a tiny few (these exceptions will be explicitly mentioned), the rest of our offerings will each be, in its own right, truly UNIQUE & one-off. WHATEVER you find in our pages, whether it be a boomerang, an Amazon American Indian "peace pipe", an Amazon jungle blow-gun & dart set, a Lakota Sioux Indian bow & arrow set, etc. will NEVER have been made ANYWHERE ELSE except in the geographical world region that the origin of such a product would have been associated with. In other words, you'll NEVER find, in our eBay pages, a boomerang made in Taiwan, Bali, Thailand or even USA (world boomerang-throwing champion 2 years in a row!) but from "dinky di" Australia AND made, individually (ie. NOT mass-produced) by a koori (Australian Aborigine).
You'll NEVER find, within our eBay pages, an American Indian tomahawk made in India, Taiwan or Indonesia (or some "sweatshop" nation....) - it WILL have been made by some American Indian, either from a Pine Ridge Sioux reservation, Navajo station, or Cherokee settlement in Arizona somewhere, with FULL royalties having been paid to the original artist/creator as deservedly so..... Very sadly, all over the world, the story has been the same: the brilliant native artist/creator gets "bugger all" while the multitude of "middle-men" each happily taking in their “lion’s share” of the "pie", leaving a tiny bit left over for the original creator.
"NATIVE SPIRIT", with its ever-expanding global network of sources of contacts with Native artists/painters/sculptors, etc. aims to address & redress the situation: decent, equitable returns to the original artists AND "cutting out" the multitude of "middle-men".
Herein lies the crux & essence of our Mission Statement: to present you the truly AUTHENTIC works of art & craft and antiquity at fair prices in accordance with realistic "supply & demand" forces of the marketplace..... ANYTIME & EVERYTIME you buy from us, you WILL know our name is synonymous with ORIGINALITY, AUTHENTICITY & QUALITY..... We offer nothing less....
An Important Note about Pricing: We understand that eBay is often overwhelmed with bargain-hunters who expect to get things at “bargain-basement” prices, & there’s nothing we can about that. However, to expect to be able to buy from us, say, a work of art that has taken more than 15 hours of dedicated labor from a highly talented artist to create for A$20.00 is totally missing the point that we have gone to such great lengths to expound here. To hold such an expectation of us, or any of our items, is to deny the very principle that this whole concept that we have laboriously explained is based on. So, we do exhort you to accord some respect to the spirit with which this enterprise is laudably undertaken.
